We did contact most of the KC and STL area LUGs and Linux-friendly organizations in late '10 and again in early '11 and received very few responses. I have sent an e-mail to you regarding this as well. We plan on trying to push a bit harder this time, but we're all busy people and some help getting the word out would be appreciated. We will do our best to keep up with SLUUG and other area clubs, join the mailing lists and involve as many as we can to get this event pulled together this time.

As far as I know, you didn't bother contacting any of the Linux or Unix Users Group leadership last year (2011). Nor, did you initiate any discussions on any of the various mailing lists in the St. Louis Metro Area.

This year has been no different; so, what do you expect as you have failed to spread the word. Nobody had brought your efforts to my attention. I only found your web site on my own, because I routinely search on Google search engine for St. Louis Unix, Linux and computer events.

The St. Louis Unix Users Group supports the main Linux Users Groups and keeps a Google calendar of all local Information Technology (IT) events and provides a routine ANNOUNCE mailing list of weekly events.

This surprises me as well. I sent an e-mail to Rikki and everyone else who had some particpation in the even that it would be postponed. I can't speak to why she says she didn't receive direct notification.

I was stunned to see an ad yet in the april Linux Pro
for this years show.
So was Rikki Kite (of LPmag), when I asked the mag about the ad. Seems she had heard through the grapevine, but never directly from the con committee that there was a delay.

Talk about whiplash... I just found out about this conference (literally about 2 minutes ago reading new Linux Journal) - just to come back to my desk to plug in the URL.

Ah well... Looking forward to future announcements though.

cool! nice and early. Question is, is it better to submit now and get in early or better to wait so as not to get lost in the eventual and inevitable flood of submissions later?
